13 Reasons Why Being in Your 20's is Awesome

Last night, I wrote a blog post "10 Reasons Being 20 Years Old Sucks." I'm going to follow that up with reasons being in your 20's is awesome. Pros and cons, people. I'm a kick.

You're Not in High School-This is probably one of the best things about being in your twenties. Those awkward days of acne and stressing out over where you belong and who you should and shouldn't talk to are OVER! Well, that's a little bit of a lie. You're going to have jobs where people will talk and gossip so much that it's going to feel like high school. The good news is, now, you can be above that. You don't have to fight back or freak out what harm its going to cause you. More than likely, people will begin to look up to you for being able to brush off people like it's nothing at all.
College-Some of you went to college, some of us didn't. For those of you who did, I hope you're enjoying it. College is going to hold some of the best times of your life. You will meet new people, see a different world, and do things you never believed you would do. Embrace it.
No More Exams-For those of us that didn't go to college, NO MORE EXAMS!!! No more staying up all weekend cramming for a test, even though all that knowlege is going to leave our brains as soon as we talk in the classroom the morning of the test. Those days are over!
Knowing what's Hip--and How to Work It-Did you ever have to explain to your grandparents how to get online? or maybe you had to show your Dad how to download applications on his new smartphone. The great thing about being in your twenties is that you're up to date on technology and for the most part, know how to use it.
You Can Make Mistakes-You're in your twenties, the only person that expects you to be perfect is yourself. You're going to ignore advice that you should have taken. You're going to date the wrong kind of fella for you. You're going to mess up. The point of it is to learn from those screw-ups so that they don't repeat in life when you're older.
You're Body Still likes you-More than likely, you have few to no wrinkles. You're finally starting to look old enough to buy cigarettes, but you're not showing the tell-tale signs of a hard life, yet. Crows feet are almost non-existence, you're laugh lines are only starting to form, you're beautiful. Also, you have the best metabolism you'll probably have for the rest of your life. Why else would you be able to drink 15 beers, eat a whole pizza, and manage to not gain 10 pounds? Plus, you now have the money and energy to do things you've always wanted, unlike when you were a broke teenager that always had energy but never any money to do things.
Helpful Parents-In your 20's, your parents are still pretty willing to help you out. They know that you're just getting started on this jacked up road people call "adulthood" and you need a little help sometimes. Parents will usually give you the extra cash to put gas in your car for the rest of the week or will feed you dinner if you take the time out of your week to just go spend a little time with them. They miss you, you know. Besides, in the next 15 years or so, your parents are going to start expecting you to take care of them.
Party Hard-When you're in your 20's, this is the time you will be able to party most. Early on, you will be able to do shots until sunrise and not throw up. With a good 10 hours of sleep and some Ramen Noodles in the morning, you're good to go. The older you get, the less hard liquor you're able to handle and the worse the hangovers get. So enjoy this time thoroughly.
Great Skin and Hair-You're skin and hair look great. You've passed the teenage phase of oily hair and acne, but haven't quite hit the age of wrinkles and dry, dead, hair.
Home for the Holidays-It's actually nice to see your family. You always hated them as a kid because they were constantly bossing you around and telling you what you needed to do and who you needed to hang out with. Now that they don't have say-so over what you're doing with your life, they seem overall a lot more pleaseant and fun.
Nothing To Tie You Down-You want to spend the summer if Paris going to Art School? Save up some money and do it! Want to get out of this hell-hole town before you're 35 years old with two kids and a husband? Do it!When you're in your 20's nothing is there to tie you down. Find a job, get shit straightened out and go! Do what you want to do before it's too late.
21 is the Best Birthday Ever-This one speaks for itself. 18 was alright. You could buy your own cigarettes and buy a lottery ticket from the gas station, but 21 is a whole different story. Now you can go to casinos, strip clubs, and even legally buy beer while you're there! That's fucking AWESOME!
Still Young-You're still young. You don't have to settle down. You don't have to make life-changing decisions. Being in your 20's is about self-discovery. It's about figuring out the kind of person you want to be and the type of things you want to do with your life. Don't stress out about it so much.
