I'll Be Different Tomorrow Than I am Today

If you are reading this...
Congratulations!
You are alive.
If that's not something to smile about, I don't know what is.

Remember...
Everyone is fighting their own battle
to be free from the past
to live in the present
and to create a future

For those of you who haven't been keeping up, I'm doing a short series of blog posts right now. The theme is my 2010 year. I came across an old journal and I'm posting blurbs from it that I think other people would enjoy.

This is part three (May-June).
If you're looking for part one, it's here and if you're looking for part two, it's here.

"Last Saturday, an elderly gentlemen really touched my heart.
He was a semi-regular customer. He comes in once a week or so.
When he came up to pay his check, he pulled out his wallet and, much to my surprise, turned it towards me to show me something inside. It was an old black and white photo of a lady and gentlemen in their late 20's...maybe early 30's. He pointed towards the woman in the picture and asked me "Do you see her? That's my wife." "She's very beautiful," I responded, and she was. "I lost her 10 weeks ago. I love her so much." His voice was shaky and you could tell the words he spoke were true. It nearly brought me to tears."

Dear Monday,

Thank you for having the word "mon" in you. That's french for "mine," in case you weren't aware, Monday. It makes me think of you more and "my day," and frankly, that sounds like a much more promising start to the week.

"Charles keeps telling me that I act like a mother and that I would make a good one with my husband and two children."

"We stayed awake all the way through Benjamin Button, but only because my tooth was in far too much pain to even begin thinking about sleep. After the movie we put our shoes on and headed to Wal-Mart to get some Oragel. As we were going through the isles on a mad search for it, one of the workers asked if there was anything he could help us find. The rest of the conversion went like this.
Me: Yes, actually, Do you know where the oragel is?
Worker: Definitely. Do you have yourself a toothache?
Me: Yes, it's been killing me all night.
Worker: You know what would help? Yanking that sucker out.
Me: I wish I could.
Worker: You know what else might help? A big bottle of whiskey."

The other things I've picked up from these two months in this journal is:
1. I locked my keys in my care a lot.
2. I would rather put someone in my trunk than have people sitting on laps in my car.
3. I really liked to use the word "grub" when talking about food.

"I am grateful that no matter what happens anywhere at anytime to anyone, the world keeps turning and life moves on."
