MOTION CITY SOUNDTRACK
Today's topic is: Favorite Band and Anything you want to say about them.
My Favorite band of all time is Motion City Soundtrack. They've been my favorite band since the summer before my eighth grade year when I was thirteen years old. I still remember the first time I heard about them. We were in my friend Emily's basement and her boyfriend at the time had told me about this song over msn a few days earlier and was finally going to have me listen to it. He was super excited because they said "aw, fuck it" in the middle of the song. That was the day my Motion City love was born.
My love for them only stemmed from there. I listened to every album they had ever put out on repeat. I obsessed over Justin Pierre's hair. I knew every lyric to every song and it was my dream to see them in concert someday and actually get to meet them.
A few months before my 18th birthday, I was listening to 105.7 the point and they were announcing coming up concerts in St. Louis. Then I heard those magical words "Motion City Soundtrack at The Pageant on October 26th." I could hardly believe my ears. Not only was my opportunity to see Motion City Soundtrack live finally here, but it was ON my birthday. I got my second tattoo on my 18th birthday and then went to see my favorite band of all time. The only way it could have been better was if I could have stayed for the meet and greet. Unfortunately, I had already made plans with friends for that evening, so I didn't get to.
Summer of 2013 came around and Dani and I were looking at the Warped Tour line-up when that beautiful name came across the screen. I couldn't believe it. Motion City Soundtrack was going to be there which meant that I would get to see them live again and I would finally get that meet and great I had always wanted.
When Warped Tour came around last summer, I got everything the teenage girl inside of me dreamed for. I saw them live in concert (although I nearly had a heat stroke once they started playing and had to get out of the crowd to avoid passing out, so I unfortunately missed about 1/3 of their show and spent the other 2/3 mostly in the back), they actually did an accoustic set too, and I finally got to have my meet and greet with the band.
I actually have a chest tattoo that says "Hooray for the Madness" which are Motion City lyrics from the song Make-Out Kids and every member of the band noticed it and complimented me on it. I had an actual conversation with Justin Pierre about hair (go figure, right?) and I swore I might faint from all the excitement of my dreams coming true.
I hope to get to see them again in concert someday, but if for some reason that doesn't happen, I'd say I'm a pretty lucky lady to have the interactions with them that I have had.
Coming up tomorrow: favorite tv shows as a kid and now
