When I was much younger, my uncle Tim got sick on Christmas and died shortly after.
When I was 13, My Aunt died suddenly on Christmas morning.
When I was 16, my grandpa was very out of it on Christmas because of his cancer and died less than a week later.
Needless to say, Christmas became a holiday I feared more than looked forward too. I never knew what was going to happen next.
I spent my first Christmas in my own apartment at 19. That was also the year my mom got me my first Christmas tree. Unfortunately, due to unforseen circumstances, I ended up living alone that Christmas too. I had to put my Christmas tree up alone and I didn't feel so festive. Last year, although I had someone, Christmas in my own apartment still was a bit of a bummer. I was at the highest weight I had ever been, My and Lance's relationship wasn't the most stable at that time and we never even got a chance to put up our Christmas tree.
This year though...I have so much faith in this year. Lance and I have both lost over 40 lbs. We've been skimming the Christmas isle's and are looking forward to decorating our tree (praying our cats won't tear off every ornament we have) and even hanging up stocking for the both of us as well as both of our kitties. This year Christmas will be about not only spending time with our lovely families, but feeling the Christmas spirit in our home each day before with our own little family. Plus, I'm really excited to be able to actually afford Christmas gifts for everyone this year.
I guess mostly what I'm trying to say is that this Christmas is going to be a joyous one. There is so much love and happiness in my life right now that I cannot possibly imagine anyone or anything tearing it down. Plus, I'm really excited to dress our cats up to get them in the holiday spirit as well.
Just put the tree up without any ornaments on it for a day so the cats will get used to it (smell it out, etc.) before adding any shiny stuff.
